Isaac & Ida Myers Family
On November 10, 1886 Isaac Newton Myers and
Ida Marie Ducummon were married in Cherokee (state yet to be determined),
in the presence of Joseph Stahley.
Their first daughter, Stella Mae was born on July 29, 1987 in Nebraska. During the
next two years they returned to live in Illinois where their first son, Ernest Henri,
was born on July 13, 1989. Edna Ona was born on May 18, 1891, about the same time
that the family moved from Illinois to Iowa. Edith Flora was born August 27, 1894
in Cherokee, Iowa followed by two sons: Leroy on March 29, 1996 and Leroy Edward
on June 18, 1998. 1900 US Census (6-14-1900; p. 111): Newt and family living in
Cherokee, Iowa, Liberty Township (Lists Newt's birth as 1865, 35 yrs old on last
birthday; both parents from Ohio). Jessie Alice
was born on June 18, 1901.
In 1902 Newt & Ida moved the family to High River, Alberta, Canada (evidenced by
border crossing records). On September 4, 1903 another son was born, Walter Edwin.
On July 10, 1904 another daughter joined the family, Lillie Mae Gertrude.
1910 US Census - Newt living in Ft. Benton, Montana. Ida was in High River; returned
to US with Elmer, Jessie & Walter, cossed the border from Canada at Sweet Grass,
Montana. Ida claimed herself and this 3 children to be Canadian. Moved his family
to Floweree, Montana area in about 1912 where he homesteaded. Homestead application
filed 10/21/1919 for 320 acres in Chouteau county. Homestead BLM S/N MTGF0009577;
Accession S/N 714033; document #09577; issued 10/21/1919 (described as N-1/2 sec.
35 township 23-N Range 5-E, Montana PM). After moving to Floweree, Newt and Ida
visited Naomi Myers around Christmas in 1910.
2/7/1920 resided in Chouteau County, MT (1920 US Census) with wife Ida M. and son
Walter. Lists his age as 55, born in Ohio. Ida born in Switzerland (as were both
or her parents) with native tongue as German. Newt owned his farm free & clear.
